A History of Owen's Book-Writing

Owen moved to Thailand in 2004, never having written or considered writing a book in his life, but he found one
particular bar and the girls/women in it so fascinating that he thought that their story should be told. He called
the book 'Behind The Smile'. He started it in 2004 and finally published it in April 2012, so a long, drawn-out
process indeed.
He was encouraged to write a sequel, and ten months later, in 2013, that appeared. However, Owen didn't want to
lose the title Behind She Smile, so made it the title of the series and renamed the first book Daddy's
Hobby the fictitious name he had given to the bar in Pattaya. He called the second book An Exciting
Future. The raison d'etre for the second book repeated itself, and Owen wrote the third, Maya -
Illusion, by August, and his stepdaughter accepted his offer to be the cover girl. .
Between BTS two and three, Owen wrote Authorship, How to Give Your Dog a Dog's
Life and the paranormal novelette The Misconception about the psychic development of a
teenage girl. In November 2013, he wrote Tiger Lily of Bangkok for the NaNoWriNo Challenge. His
first time of entering. Emboldened by his switch of genre, Owen tried 'a contemporary comedy Dracula with a
big difference' in December. He finished The Disallowed in January 2014.
He continued to write the Megan Series of novelettes when he had time between full-length novels, the next of
which were a a police-military-terrorist action drama called Dead Centre; Fate Twister, the story of
Wayne Gamm, a boy with the power to change the world but not the confidence; BTS four, The Lady In The Tree,
and BTS five. Stepping Stones, for the November NaNoWriMo 2014 Challenge. .
There followed the sequel to Lily, called Tiger Lily of Bangkok in
London and the sequel to Dead Centre called simply Dead Centre II. In the summer
of 2015, he wrote a spy thriller based on a true story, Andropov's Cuckoo. There followed his first
attempt at compiling an anthology of short stories with Asia as their backdrop by nine authors. That is called
Asian Shorts and features one of his cousins as the cover girl in a photo that her sister
took.
In autumn, he wrote the sixth Behind The Smile, The Dream and for NaNoWriMo 2015, he wrote
A Night in Annwn, a story about the near-death experience of an old Welsh sheep farmer.
There are now twenty-two novelettes in the Megan Series, the first ten of which has been compiled into two
collections called Megan The Psychic Teenager volumes one and two. He has also compiled over a hundred
'Self Help' niche books from his defunct websites, the content of which can be used as PLR (Private Label Rights)
content for the purchasers' own publications.
The rest of his time is spent in promotion.
