NaNoWriMo WinnerOwen Jones was born Owen Ceri Jones on August 14th, 1954 in the maternity ward of Barry Accident Hospital in Woodlands Road. He was the first child of Colin and Marion Jones (nee Williams), both of Barry, South Glamorgan, Wales, UK.

His father was a spiritualist and a carpenter in his early years; his mother was a housewife and spiritualist sympathiser. His father's mother had founded a Spiritualist church on Butrill's Road and his father's father, after whom he was named, had died in the year of his birth, but before he was born.

Owen had a sister, Gail, who died as a baby and four brothers. Roddy, the first brother, died of cancer at the age of 22. The other three brothers: Gareth, Rhys and Huw went into the building industry with their father. The company that Colin founded became the largest building firm in Barry and was called Marlyn (Construction) Services Ltd..

NaNoWriMo Winner 2014Owen's mother died of cancer at the age of 42 and Colin remarried some years later to Lynn. Hence Marlyn Construction. Owen Jones worked for Marlyn from 1986 until it ceased trading in 2001.

After leaving school, Owen studied Russian at Portsmouth. Russian was the sixth language that Owen had studied: English, Welsh, French, German and Latin. After Portsmouth, Owen Jones moved to the Netherlands and learned Dutch.

He lived in Den Bosch, Noord Brabant for nine years before returning to join the family firm mentioned above. While in the Netherlands, Owen had studied computers and he set about computerising the company after five or six years working on site. When the company had been 'computerised', he was made office manager.

Colin Jones retired at 5pm on Friday 21st February on his 65th birthday and he died seven years later also on his birthday.

A few years after this, Owen Jones moved to Thailand to live after meting a Thai woman on holiday. They set up home together in her small village in northern Thailand. They married two years later and are still there today.

While in Thailand, Owen Jones wrote a book called 'Behind The Smile ~ the story of Lek, a bargirl in Pattaya', which is now a series of six and compiled a book of some his father's automatic writings which had been dictated to him by his spirit guides. That book is called 'The Eternal Plan - Revealed'. Click here for a complete list of his works.
